Other NewsRecently someone returned a treat we carry because it didn’t say Made in the USA but is really is Made in the USA. You will see less of the Made in the USA labels because this means that it is not only manufactured here but also all ingredients were sourced in the USA, which eliminates many that produce here and use both USA and foreign sourced ingredients. Certain things, like lamb and rabbit are virtually always from outside the USA. And, some manufacturers tell us, they distribute outside the USA and certain countries don’t look on that labeling as a positive. Interesting. Tuesday, February 2 – Corey’s 8th birthday! Mention this for 8% off any treat that day to help him celebrate. Saturday, February 14 – Valentine’s Day! Since we love you so much, we’ll give you 14% off bully sticks and catnip that day. Wednesday, February 29 – Leap Day. This once in a blue moon day calls for 29% off any bed that day. We’re happy that the parking space in front of our store is now designated as a 15 minute loading zone. AND the signage is has been moved to the middle of the spot so people are starting to read it. We are thrilled! Timberwolf is being discontinued from Paws 'n' Play. The owner has decided not to use distributors and there is no way for us to order in pallets. The majority of our customers have transitioned to other foods with no issues. We do still have a small supply to get you through the transition. We’re hoping to get to 100 Facebook fans soon. We’re continuing to randomly give a $10 gift certificate to one of every 10 new fans – our newest winner is Patti & Chuck McCully! Looks like these will continue this year. We just received an increase from Champion Pet Foods (Orijen and Acana) of 4-5% and Breeder’s Choice (Avoderm and Pinnacle) of 7% on average. Coming in February – Bravo (raw frozen) and Evangers (dog cans). We’re sure more will surface and want you to know that we only raise prices when distributors do and they are too much for us to absorb. We do absorb small increases as best we can. We’ll continue looking at different brands because some of the ones we have been carrying have grown to the point where their focus on independent stores is dwindling. They are favoring big box and out of state chain stores. Their focus on numbers isn’t what our store is about. Some have raised prices too high for the quality they present and we can’t recommend them anymore. We won’t eliminate current brands but will be emphasizing those brands that are still committed to quality and customers. It's frustrating, but it's business. Olde Town gift cards. Sold in $10 increments and can be used at all participating merchants. Instead of Starbucks or Target gift cards, consider these and support our great local shops. Project 3/50 (which challenges people to spend $50 at 3 independent stores as a way to improve the economy) says $68 out of $100 spent at a mom and pop stays in the community; even higher than the $45 we quoted last month. |
